There are a few things that make my heart beat the way these Chicken Rolls do. I love making a big batch and keeping in the fridge for an entire week. Thinking of heating one up for my breakfast motivates me in the morning. It also serves as great entertainment to guests alongside myย
Spring Rolls With Beef.
When I was testing this recipe, I made some of the dough as circles then made some as rolls. I did a survey on Facebook, asking my Facebook friends to choose if they preferred the circles or the rolls. Most of them chose the rolls so I’ll be sticking with them.
The rolls are very similar to
Fish Rolls. The difference is these ones are slightly bigger and are baked. Chicken Rolls areย basically pastry, filled with minced or shredded chicken and baked. If you can’t find ground chicken, simply season and boil any chicken you have on hand and take out the flesh. These rolls will be winners at the table at any occasion. Yummy is insufficient to describe them. Please if you know a word that is better than yummy, tell me below.
Let’s start cooking. Shall we?
Chicken Rolls Recipe

Ingredients
For the dough:
3 cups all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons margarine
A quarter teaspoon salt
Half teaspoon baking powder
Half cup of water
One egg for egg wash
For the filling:
1 pound ground or shredded chicken (about half a kilogram)
A medium sized onion
I teaspoon ground garlic and ginger
A quarter teaspoon ground white pepper
1 seasoning cube (maggi)
Salt to taste
Half cup mixed vegetables (carrots, green peppers, etc)
One tablespoon vegetable oil
To make the filling, chop onions, heat oil in a pan and saute the onions. Add ground chicken and stir from time to time until it gets cooked. Chicken will go from pink to brown when cooked. If you are using shredded chicken, no need to let it cook as it must have been pre-cooked. Now get some of that chicken and toss in your mouth. Yum, yum!
Add in all other ingredients: ground garlic and ginger, white pepper, mixed vegetables and seasoning. If mixture seems too dry at this point, add in two tablespoons of water to make it moist. However, refrain from adding much water because it doesn’t have to be dripping moist. Let those simmer for two minutes then turn off the heat.’
Now make the dough. Place flour, margarine, salt and baking powder together in a bowl.
Rub in together with your finger tips until the mixture looks like fine bread crumbs.
Add in water and work with your heads until it forms a nice elastic dough. If your dough turns out too sticky, add more flour. If it turns out too tough, soften with a little water.
Now cut a piece of your dough, about the size of a small orange and place on a lightly floured board.
Roll that out.
Place about a tablespoon of the filling at one end.
Start rolling…
…until it gets to the other end.
Place on a baking tray lined with parchment or greased with oil.
Repeat process until dough is finished. Sing with me brothers and sisters, “Today is the day of joy, the day of joy, the day of jooooy! Today is the day of joy, the day of joy that the chicken has made.”
I loveย praise and worship, especially the kind that makes you zenge for Jesus.
Heat up oven to 375 Degrees Fahrenheit. Beat an egg and brush the rolls with a pastry brush.
Place in your pre-heated oven and start to bake.
While it bakes, keep singing, “Today is the day of joy…” (Look above for complete lyrics). After ten minutes, open oven and brush again with egg wash so the rolls are really shiny.
Bake for another 5-10 minutes or until rolls are golden brown. Just look at those!
Enjoy!
