If you love groundnuts you wouldย loooove Peanut Burger Snack. This is a snack made by coating groundnuts otherwise known as peanuts with flour and other ingredients.
Oh my! Does deliciousness come any better than this? Peanut Burger is so crunchy, slightly sweet, nutty and so addicting!

Warning: these little balls of food ecstasy won’t last long after you make them. You might start making them every week! I’m not complaining, though.
Peanut Burger Snack in a bowl
Peanut Burger is a well-known snack in Nigeria and Ghana. I first fell in love with the commercial brand version in Nigeria. I could never get enough of it.
It was fast gaining popularity in Cameroon before I left. It is colloquially called “peanuts” there. I could see it in so many stores and snack stands.
I don’t know if that is still the case. Are “Peanuts” still so popular in pays? Please let me know below if you are in Cameroon right now.
So a while ago I got a couple of requests to do a recipe for this. I was mad at myself for not making this in a long time… over two years! Why Precious, why??? I repent.
Making Peanut Burger Snack could be time-consuming but it is quite easy and the taste pays for the time. I promise.
All you need is some raw peanuts. Then you coat the peanuts with some flour, eggs, sugar salt and nutmeg if you like. Viola, peanut burger!

This is a snack made by coating raw groundnuts/peanuts with flour then deep frying. It is very tasty and "peanutty".
Prep: 30 minutes
Cook: 20 minutes
Total: 50 minutes
Servings: 24 pieces

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of flour (250 grams)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup of sugar (66.7 grams)
  • 2 cups of raw groundnuts aka peanuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg optional
  • A pinch of salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • Put your groundnuts in a bowl and select to take out all the bad ones.
  • Mix together flour, baking powder, nutmeg and salt and set aside.
  • Beat eggs together with sugar in another bowl.
  • Pour a little of the egg mixture over the groundnuts. Shake bowl until mixture coats all the groundnuts.
  • Sprinkle some of the flour mixture over the groundnuts and shake.
  • Repeat 4 and 6 above until groundnuts are completely coated with flour. If some stick together, use your fingers to separate them and keep going.
  • Heat oil on medium heat and fry in batches until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool completely then you can serve or store in an airtight container.

Notes

It is okay to have some flour at the base of your bowl when coating the groundnuts. Make sure you separate the nuts from the flour before frying.

  1. Precious, thanks a bunch, this is definitely what i needed, been searching online for the recipe.is there a replacement for eggs, for people who dislike eggs. For the groundnuts do we use the white or brown ones and do we pill the skin?

    1. Hi Solo, I’m afraid I don’t know of any replacement to eggs. However, you could try liquid whole milk and see if that works.
About the kind of groundnuts, I’m not sure what you mean by brown or white ones. Please watch the video to see the one I used.
      Hope this helps.

      1. Hi Precious, okay will try with milk. In Kenya we have white (not really white something closer to light brown) and red peanuts (very brown), the colour is in the skin and they are sold separately, i can see a mixture of both in your mixture and will try on both.
        Thanks again and be blessed.

  2. Precious is there any alternative in doing it mannual because it will be stressful for someone that wants to go commercial thanks ngozi

  3. Hi Precious, thanks so much for these instructions, I just finish preparing mine but the taste didn’t really go well. What really give it that special taste?

    1. Hi McChummy, did you follow the recipe exactly as it is with the right measurements? Since I haven’t tasted it I won’t be able to tell what went wrong.

About going commercial with it, I think it is quite profitable though I can’t give you precise figures. I’m judging from the increasing number of people who make it for commercial purposes. I think if many people are doing it, that’s because they’ve found it profitable.

      Hope this helps.

    2. Hello Precious,
Let me comments on of your nuggets! It reads, “Sharing is Caring”. Thank for this and God bless you.

I love crunchy peanut but what I produced was very strong as if I would loose my dentitions.

I don’t know if it is because I added milk.
Kindly care for me again by sharing.

      1. Hello. I used raw groundnut but after frying the coated peanut, the groundnut refuse to become hard. Please what’s the solution to this.

      2. Hi Laniyan, if you follow my recipe and coat the groundnuts completely, they should be cooked on the inside when you are done frying. Be sure to follow my exact recipe and directions.
